THE PROJECT
Purpose and scope
This was the largest project in our portfolio. The platform brought together course information from an educational institution’s databases, spreadsheets and other data sources. Data processing and visualisation helped make that information useful across the learning experience, with relationships connecting courses, curriculum and learners. AI personalised course and learning path recommendations using student scores, interests, behaviour and learner characteristics. Musicians could follow those paths, explore courses and gain certification. The Swift apps for iOS and iPad and Kotlin apps for Android were delivered alongside the web platform by early 2026.
Delivered under NDA. Client, platform and institution identities are not disclosed.

Requirements and analysis
We analysed the learning journey, from discovering courses and following a learning path to certification. The requirements connected information from different institutional sources with the student scores, interests, behaviour and characteristics used to inform recommendations.
Software architecture and data
We designed the complete system around the relationships between course, curriculum and learner information. The architecture connected data processing and visualisation with the web and native interfaces, backend, APIs and databases. GraphQL supported application data access; an open-source AI API provided course and learning path recommendations.
Web and native implementation
We implemented the complete web platform, Swift apps for iOS and iPad, Kotlin apps for Android, backend, APIs and databases. The delivered software connected the institution’s different data sources with visualisation, personalised learning paths, course exploration and certification.
Completed delivery
TreeNodes carried the project from its initial analysis in 2023 through complete software delivery by early 2026, including both the web platform and native apps.
